Cette semaine, Karlien Coppens, Business Consutlant chez Sofico, écrit chaque jour un blog pour Références.

Turning down a job offer during a crisis period seems somewhat risky and ungrateful. So, in mid-December, I decided to sign the contract to become a junior auditor. Not quite a dream job, but it meant job security…

In the second semester, however, my doubts resurfaced in a big way when I saw Sofico’s vacancy for a Business Consultant. As a provider of software solutions for automotive finance, leasing, and fleet & mobility management Sofico is active in Europe, Asia and Australia. The company is currently undergoing rapid growth and offers a dynamic work environment. One of my family members had been working at the firm for a number of years as an IT specialist. So I was hugely surprised to learn that Sofico was looking for economists and business engineers as well as computer scientists. Despite having signed a contract, I decided to apply for the role of business consultant anyway. This was a job I really wanted. During the interviews, the various aspects of the job were explained to me. I was asked about my knowledge and interests, not just to determine whether I had the necessary skills but also to help me work out whether the job was for me. For the first time, the application process felt like a joint quest for the employer and the employee.
