Retail District Manager
My client is a key actor in the self-storage industry.
The District Manager has the overall responsibility and accountability for the stores in his district. He manages and coaches the store personnel in order to achieve operational business objectives, sales targets and customer satisfaction through implementing the company's strategy and always compliant with the company's mission and values.
He will report to the Market Manager.
- People Management
Trains and coaches store employees to succeed. He will be in charge of 7-10 stores depending on the store proximity and the business results of the stores in his district
Hiring and firing responsibility; consistently applies the company employment policies, practices and processes
In charge of store personnel's performance reviews against required job competencies; conducts formal performance reviews using established tools. Designs individual development plans together with employee to link employee growth goals to business objectives and the company strategy.
- Sales and customer focus
Analyzes the sales results of each store and takes action in order to achieve sales objectives
Identifies and analyzes customer inquiry trends, patterns and issues.
Identifies target customers and subsequent required actions in partnership with Marketing and Market Manager; develops and implements appropriate local marketing plans.
Performs competitive analysis and defines competitive advantages for the district and will report those to the Market Manager.
- Property Management
Takes action for al Repair & Maintenance issues that are reported on a Store level. Oversees and resolves them through appropriate channels.
- Operational excellence
Takes accountability for all operational processes; effectively guides planning and staffing at the store level.Accountable for the correct execution of all administrative processes and procedures on Store level.
Ensures that all stores in district meet the company operational standards; including personnel and property and office requirements.
A higher degree or equivalent through experience
3 to 5 years of people management experience within a retail multi-site environment
Fluent in French and Dutch
Good operational level of English
Proficient in MS Office applications
Drives team action to achieve business results
Is the living example of customer orientation in the company (internal/external), bringing it to a new, higher level
Establishes a positive sales culture by inspiring and educating others
Translates the company strategy or a given strategic direction to team
Acts as a change agent, "selling" and implementing change effectively
Gets the best out of one's team by actively monitoring and evaluating performance and steering where required
Implements optimal staffing of the team, and ensures continuous development of own team by establishing a growth environment
Effectively influences others and gains collaboration by persuasive two-way communications
Prioritises own and team's work, is decisive and takes initiative beyond call of duty
Promotes co-operation within own team and between teams, and acts as an example of effective teamwork
