Confo Therapeutics, a spin-off of VIB and Vrije Universiteit Brussel, is a drug discovery company built around a disruptive technology which enables it to address ‘undruggable’ GPCRs. The company is building a portfolio of transformative medicines in various disease areas. Confo Therapeutics is currently located on the Etterbeek campus of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and on the Technology Park in Zwijnaarde/Ghent.

Scientist – Target Discovery


Responsibilities:


Your main responsibilities are:

  • You develop and implement single event sorting to screen for eukaryotic cell lines that overexpress GPCRs.
  • You collaborate with an expert academic lab to implement the eukaryotic expression of GPCRs.
  • You support the Confobody discovery for therapeutic targets up to the implementation of Confobody enabled drug screening.
  • You communicate progress to the project team.

Profile:

  • PhD or equivalent experience related to the expression of integral membrane proteins in eukaryotic hosts (insect, mammalian or yeast cells) with strong interest in GPCR biology.
  • Profound knowledge and expert operator of magnetic and fluorescence activated single cell sorting.
  • Hands-on expertise with lentiviral transduction of eukaryotic cells is preferred.
  • Profound expertise in GPCR biochemistry or skilled in antibody discovery are assets.
  • Bench oriented and trained preferentially in a biotech environment.
  • Scientific integrity, solid analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Working accurately and self-motivating.
  • Enthusiastic team player in a small company setting.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
