Robert Half is currently looking for a (m/f) Financial Controller for one of our clients based in Brussels.

Our client is a market leader in insurance located in Brussels.

Reporting directly to the Finance Manager and occasionally directly to the CFO, the Financial Controller will have following responsibilities:

Financial statement closing process and financial reporting (LGAAP & IFRS):

  • Prepare financial reporting to management /shareholders/supervisory authorities
  • Prepare quarterly and yearly closing
  • Challenge recorded figures
  • Consolidate inputs from different departments (risk, accounting, HR…)
  • Calculate general provisions and amortizations
  • Formulate recommendations for improvements in the closing and financial reporting processes
  • Prepare, check and analyze data prior to the closing process
  • Perform internal controls related to the closing and reporting processes
  • Maintain good relationships with key control functions (internal audit, Risk Management…) and external auditor

Solvency II:

  • Implement the Solvency II reporting processes in the finance department
  • Execute and document internal controls related to the Solvency II reporting processes
  • Prepare deliverables for regulatory reporting purposes


  • Participate in ad hoc projects
  • Cross-department projects
  • Document and update internal procedures

Forecast and Plan:

  • Budget preparation and forecasting
  • Cost report preparation

Function as backup for other Finance department members

The requested qualifications for the position of Financial Controller include:

  • Master degree in Finance or Finance-related
  • Experience within the Insurance sector is a plus
  • Fluent in Dutch and/or French, good knowledge in English
  • Sound knowledge of Excel
  • Analytical mind-set
  • Solution and result driven
  • Deliver qualitative work with respect of deadlines
  • Amical with a sense of team spirit and trustworthy
  • Capable of handling more complex subjects
