CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY TEACHER WITH INTEGRATED SCIENCES (approximatively 16 periods/week)
FROM SEPTEMBER 2018                                        

Our school is part of the European Schools System, providing mother tongue education for children whose parents work for European Institutions. Our school community consists of 3,400 pupils of 60 different nationalities and more than 400 members of staff coming from the various Member States and beyond. Pupils are taught in eight main language sections: Danish, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish and Spanish. Set on a spacious, leafy campus in the South of Brussels, we aim to provide innovative teaching programmes that achieve outstanding academic results. The science department is well equipped with several laboratories and technicians.

  • Gross salary: € 60.787 per year for a full time post (21 teaching periods 45 ‘ per week)
  • Location: Brussels, Belgium
  • Contract type and term:  part-time , Local hire – 2 year renewable

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Proficiency in the language equivalent to that of an educated native speaker
  • Appropriate degree, with PGCE, or other teaching qualification giving the equivalent of UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Recent secondary school teaching experience
  • Proven track record of excellent classroom and pedagogical practice and experience of working in a team
  • Experience teaching Chemistry and Biology plus Integrated Sciences in English including teaching lab activities to both native and non-native speakers of English, up to A level or European Baccalaureate or IB
  • Ability to teach mixed ability classes using effective differentiation
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child
  • A high level of professionalism and care for the well-being of children
  • Willing to contribute to the life of the secondary school

Preferred but not essential:

  • Knowledge of another European language
  • Knowledge of the European School’s curriculum 
  • Experience in writing and marking exams
