The Business Unit Industrial Chemicals BV of Nouryon sells specialty and commodity chemicals world-wide. The products are manufactured at several production sites and sold via its sales organization in various countries as well via its representatives and/traders.

One of the products is Di-Methyl-Ether (DME) which is produced in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The DME business is a growing business which feeds into various market segments such as cosmetics, poly-urethane foams, paints, extruded poly-styrene and Di-methyl-sulphate industries. The business is constantly evolving with development and introduction of new applications and technologies.

One of the applications also revolves around sale of patented technology licensing (LDD DeMyth) which has won an award for being beneficial to the environment. The technology license is used for the degreasing and dehydration of animal skins used in the food and leather industry.

The DME business is an independent activity within the Business Unit Industrial Chemicals. A separate business management team, headed by a Business Manager, is responsible for the overall DME business.

On a global level, Nouryon operate in over 80 countries around the world with approximately 10.000 employees.

To devlop the DME business, Nouryon is looking for a :

Account Manager B2B – Industrial Chemicals (FR/EN)


You are integrated in the DME business team and cover specifically the markets of France, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic and Hungary. You are engaged under the Belgian payroll (ex-plant Akzo Nobel at Ghlin-Baudour) with the opportunity of home working.

Key objectives :

  • develop and execute sales strategies in the market place securing achievement of expected bottom line results in the allocated region; responsible for sales and profitability target (contribution margin) ;
  • develop a) new customers for existing applications, b) customers for new applications/innovations & c) penetrate new geographical markets ;
  • identify and implement new technical and business opportunities to promote the product ;
  • prepare proposal for contracts and lead negotiation of supply agreements ;
  • have a role of Key Account Manager for three of top five key accounts : create strategy and develop, manage and ensure realization of sales for the assigned accounts ;
  • actively promote sales of Leather Degreasing Dehydration patent/technology ;
  • manage distributors and the complex interface between distributors and direct and indirect customers;
  • execute selling/buying process, detect bottle necks and opportunities and advise or take action ;
  • monitor and secure on time payment by customer and the allocation of credit limits, according to the Credit Control Policy of the Company;
  • stay abreast of trends in the various markets being served by DME and providing market intelligence to the business.  Provide insights regarding qualitative and quantitative developments by means of periodic and ad-hoc reports and/or analysis ;
  • plan, monitor and report periodically on execution of major sales activities including input for the budget planning (CRM and SAP) ;
  • work closely with Logistics, Customer Services Desk, Operations, Integrated Supply Chain, Marketing, Technical & Market Development, Legal…


  • At least achelor’s degree (Business Management, Technics).
  • Minimum five years experience in B2B commercial function sales and marketing.
  • Basic understanding of production technologies / processes.
  • Languages: English and French mandatory.
  • Highly result driven, independent, analytical skills, excellent selling skills, strong interpersonal skills, sharp communication skills, business acumen.
  • Openess to travel on the assigned territories (30 %) and to work from home.
