Compliance Officer - Brussels

Robert Half Legal is looking for a Compliance officer

for an international financial institution situated in Brussels.

As Compliance officer you will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Monitoring applicable laws and regulations, identifying potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, as well as developing and implementing corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues;
• Implementing Compliance Framework and making the necessary adjustments to align with compliance best practices;
• Setting up, updating and managing the Data Protection Programme within the organisation;
• Reporting to supervisory authorities, to the management team and to governing bodies in a clear and concise matter;
• Developing an effective compliance awareness/training program for all employees, including promoting the understanding of new and existing compliance issues as well as of related policies and procedures.

The requested qualifications for this Compliance officer position include:

• A master degree in Law or Economics;
• At least 8 years of compliance, audit, regulatory, and/or legal management experience preferably within the financial sector;
• Proven experience of compliance and regulatory topics, such as BMR, MiFID, GDPR/Data Privacy, governance and internal controls frameworks, etc.;
• Full professional proficiency in English, both oral and written;
• Intermediate knowledge of French or Dutch is an asset;
• You are pro-active in identifying, investigating and resolving issues;
• You systematically focus on accuracy and quality, also under tight deadlines;
• You can communicate effectively with different audiences both orally and in writing.
