Product Development Engineer

Our client is is a global manufacturer of specialty chemicals, minerals and industrial additives. We specialize in the development, manufacture and marketing of performance critical additives, many custom developed, for niche applications in construction, electronics, consumer products, agriculture, automotive, oil and gas, heavy equipment, and industrial and similar end markets.

in an objective of development and expansion, our client is looking for ; 

Product Development Engineer (H/F/X) 

As Product Development Engineer,  your main missions will be as follows ; 

• Conduct research on product or process development related to the business objectives. Emphasis on development of improved versions of materials for the lithium-ion battery market ; 
• Provide support to Sales and, as required, to Operations ; 
• Monitor and report on new developments as seen in publications by others ; 
• Respond to requests from external and internal customers (e.g., laboratory studies to modify the product characteristics and to support continuous improvement efforts.) ; 
• Observe the inherent responsibilities for Safety, Quality, Environmental and Health concerns that every employee has ; 

You will also have more specific responsibilities, namely ; 

• Propose, design and conduct research that leads to new product or process development, in particular materials that can be used in the lithium-ion battery market ; 
• Provide support to sales & marketing ; 
• Monitor the scientific and patent literature with respect to the research topics and provide monthly reports ; 
• Provide support to operations on plant process problems and plant start-ups ; 

You meet the following criteria ; 

• Civil Engineer (Chemistry), Doctor of Science (Chemistry), or non-university higher education (Industrial Engineer)
• Knowledge of hydrometallurgical processing required, knowledge of powder characterization and solid-state chemistry preferred
• 2 years of industrial work experience minimum
• Good interpersonal skills when communicating both to technical and to non-technical people
• Clear presentation skills
• Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
