Ideas competition at the University of Luxembourg for a new interdisciplinary centre investigating environmental systems.
Do you have a vision for a new interdisciplinary centre investigating environmental systems?
Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character, ranked among the top 250 universities in the world by Times Higher Education. Its research focuses on the key areas of digital transformation, medicine and health, as well as sustainable and societal development. The University has both local and global impact and is a driving force in a country well on its way to becoming a leading knowledge-based society.
The University of Luxembourg will establish a new Interdisciplinary Centre (IC) for investigating complex environmental systems. This ideas competition is calling on outstanding scientists from around the world to submit their concepts.
The scientist with the most innovative and convincing ideas will be invited to apply as the founding director of the centre.
What we imagine
The new IC is to become an international reference centre in environmental systems, which includes their interdisciplinary and systemic relevance to a sustainable society and economy. The IC will stand for both excellent research and societal impact.
What we expect
A concept with long-term relevance that combines local and international elements. A vision to attract the best talents from around the world to a centre that excels at both basic research and real-world applications.
The profile of the founding director will combine an outstanding academic record with the management capabilities to establish a new centre.
What we offer
An attractive research system, ranked 1st in the 2022 EU Innovation Scorecard, at one of the world’s most international Universities.
How to participate
Please submit your concept by 8 January 2023. It will be evaluated by an international selection committee of independent experts. A second phase will be dedicated to the actual recruitment process of the founding director.
