         We are looking for: Economist – Environmental Economics & Statistics – Namur.                  

The ICEDD (Institut de Conseil et d'Etudes en Développement Durable) https://www.icedd.be/ is a Namur-based consultancy firm employing around thirty people that helps and advises the public authorities and private companies by providing services and transferring knowledge and expertise in the fields of sustainable development. These activities are carried out at regional, national, European and international level.

The 100% private non-profit organisation has existed for sixty years. It analyses strategic issues and examines the mechanisms and processes that underlie the definition and implementation of environmental policies (mainly policies on waste, protecting biodiversity and air pollution), climate change policies, energy policies and issues relating to mobility, transport and space planning.

On behalf of our client, we are looking for an (M/F/X):

Economist – Environmental Accounts/Statistics

Role

In close collaboration with the manager of the Climate & Energy Transition department, of which you will be a part, the projects you will be entrusted with mainly cover the theme of environmental statistics/economic accounts.

Your responsibilities will be as follows:

    you gather and analyse data within the framework of writing analytical or benchmarking studies for authorities and ministerial cabinets in charge of these themes; you perform a statistical and prospective analysis of the economic and budgetary effects of public policies; you organise and run work groups or meetings to gather and interpret information from various sources; you draft technical advice, economic analyses or assessments; you help develop strategic action plans; for the projects you are responsible for:
- you organise the tasks in accordance with the methodology, budgets and time frames set;

- you monitor and circulate information to your client, your partners and colleagues;

- you carry out administrative and financial monitoring;

- you put forward innovative methodologies to carry out complex studies in the fields of energy and the environment;

- you write reports with different levels of complexity/synthesis.

Profile  

    You have followed a long university or university extension course (master’s in economics, business engineering, political science or any other subject with a specialisation in economics and/or the assessment of public policies). You have proven expertise in data management (collection, validation and analysis), in particular in the fields of environmental economic accounts/statistics. You are described as a dynamic, motivated, enterprising and independent economist with excellent team spirit and a sensitivity to issues relating to the ecological transition. You speak fluent French and English (level C1 minimum). Knowledge of Dutch will be considered an asset. You have a good understanding of databases as well as statistical and data processing tools (Excel, VBA, R).
